The second of two courses to be built at the famous Fairmont Hot Springs, Riverside Golf Resort is a testament to fantastic golf and beautiful scenery. Surrounded by the distracting views of the majestic Canadian Rockies Riverside also requires golfers to contend with the Columbia River crossing it four separate times. With the choice of four separate tee boxes and varying widths in the landing areas, this challenge can be tempered for golfers of all levels.
One of its most distinctive holes is the 562 yard par five 18th. As with any good finishing hole, Rivershore’s 18th will require you to call on all aspects of your game to succeed. Shaped like a lazy "S" the hole will require a long accurate tee shot to the right side of the fairway if you are contemplating going for the green in two.
If that is your plan your second shot will have to be over water with a long iron or fairway wood. Be sure to get all of the shot as anything short will find water or one of the four traps that guard this relatively small green.
If you are more of the conservative vein, keep your second shot left with a mid or long iron, and set up birdie with a controlled wedge from your favorite yardage. If things go poorly for you on this hole don’t worry. The 19thhole is not far away.
