 Northview Golf and Country Club is one of the top facilities in the province and a great part of any Vancouver Golf Vacation. Arnold Palmer’s go for broke style and respect for the game are evident in every part of the courses he built at Northview.
The Canal Course is modeled after the courses in Palm Springs and the Arizona Desert. This winding course is defined by its wide fairways and undulating greens. The water in play on ten holes and the over seventy sand traps mean that the course will keep you honest. Arnie’s style and love of risk-taking though will mean that you will have plenty of opportunity to pull out your driver and see what you can make happen.
The Canal Course’s eighth hole is a perfect example of this. Shaped like a backward question mark this monster par 5 is guarded with water down the left side and in front of this green. The obvious choice off the tee is to hit the straightest, longest club you have. From there it is decision time. For those with the Palmer flair, pull out the driver and have a go over the water at the green with your second shot. Be prepared to pay for the risk you're taking but the reward may be an eagle 3. For those with a more conservative approach simply lay up to your favourite yardage and attack the pin from there.
