Winner of several awards and international recognition Crown Isle takes golf on Vancouver Island to an all-new level of opulence and luxury.
Completed in 1996, Crown Isle’s 47,000 foot clubhouse tells you all you need to know about this incredible golfing facility. With two restaurants, a huge patio, snack bar, meeting rooms, pro-shop, cigar lounge, poker room, private classic car museum, sweeping double staircase and indoor waterfall it instantly tells you that you have arrived at a world class resort. Perhaps the only thing that can out-do the clubhouse is the golf course itself.
Designed by Graham Cooke, this 7,024 yard championship course will call on every shot in your bag to negotiate the sixty-eight bunkers and nine water hazards that defend this golfing gem. Don’t worry if you are not a Tiger Woods or an Annika Sorenstam though, Crown Isle offers four sets of tees to enable golfers of all levels to enjoy a round on this fantastic layout. Wide fairways and generous, manicured greens mean that shooting low scores is possible but only if you are firing on all cylinders.
A great example of Crown Isle golf is its par five, fifth hole. At 502 yards from the back tees and a friendly 404 from the front tees it is a short par five that tempts many people into thinking they can shoot low on this hole. There is only one small catch. The hole is a gentle dogleg right and the entire right side of the fairway is bordered by a water hazard. Any shots not hit straight or with a draw will quickly find a watery grave. The best strategy is to be aggressive up the left side of the fairway on your drive and then let, depending on where you ended-up, let your ego and your ability wrestle with the idea of going for the green in two. Whatever you do be precise. The landing area immediately in front of the green is only fifteen yards wide! If it doesn't look good, lay-up and try and chip-it close for your birdie putt.
No matter what your game Crown Isle is the course for you. With luxurious amenities, spectacular surroundings and manicured grounds it is simply a must-play of the North Island. Be sure to add it to any Vancouver Island Golf Safari you go on!
