A jewel of a course, Fairwinds is a fantastic blend of beauty and challenging precision golf. It’s towering Douglas Firs, Arbutus and Oaks trees line each fairway to give you the feeling you are the only golfer on the course. It’s seventy sand traps and water in play on eleven holes however, will keep you focused on the golf.
One of its best holes is also its last. The 518 yard, par five 18th, is the key to bragging rights at the popular 19th hole. With woods on the left and water down the entire right hand side, a solid, straight tee shot is all-important here.
Well-placed bunkers at 100 and 50 yards short of the green mean that the second shot must be even more accurate than the fourth. Birdies on this hole will come thanks to your pitching game. A wise strategy is to lay up to your favourite yardage with your second shot and let your short game work its magic. If that doesn’t work, be sure to take advantage of the great menu, friendly service and relaxing atmosphere on the deck of Fairwinds spacious clubhouse.
